Palmas del Mar

For Palmas del Mar, we planned and designed a highly efficient energy and treatment, modular, secondary wastewater treatment plant for a 4,000 acres community tourist resort in the southeast coast in Puerto Rico. The wastewater treatment plant uses advanced European technology and has provided excellent treatment for the past 18 years. In this project, we installed the first successful biosolids composting project in Puerto Rico. This composting project helped our client to reduce increasing landfill expenses of both yardwastes and biosolids. The high quality of the compost has created a consumer demand that is greater than the compost supply. Also the sales of the product has helped our client to reduce expenses in the management of this plant. For the above accomplishment, the Palmas del Mar WWTP was awarded Best Engineering Design - 1994 by the Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores de Puerto Rico.

La Virgencita Water Filtration Plant

While providing consulting engineering services for a local engineering firm with a PRASA contract, we recommended, evaluated, and designed a horizontal well collector (Ranney Collector) for La Virgencita Water Filtration Plant. According to Collectors Wells International, this was the first combination of surface and ground water collector intake, a very specialized and unique installation, most likely one of the very fist ever installed in the world. According to Roberts of Puerto Rico, the plant operator, the horizontal collector has been able to reduce chemicals over 66% compared to other conventional surface water intakes that they operate in Puerto Rico.

Holsum Bakers

For Holsum Bakers, a local bread industry, we prepared a Comprehensive Performance Evaluation to help the owner decide either to build a new treatment plant or to invest in retrofitting their wastewater treatment plant. By modifying the treatment process and controlling certain environmental factors, we help to operate the twenty-year-old plant into never before effluent quality. The owner expects to save thousands of dollars in comparison to a new installation.

El Conquistador

For El Conquistador Resort and Golden Door Spa--a Five Star Hotel in Puerto Rico, we helped to enter into compliance a marginal designed wastewater treatment plant. Now effluent is safely reused into the golf course and our company continues to supervise the operation and training of their own operators.

AFI

For AFI we designed the retrofit of Dorado and Vega Baja WWTP's. Our firm was able to double the treatment capacity, provide advanced treatment and still reduce energy consumption. Presently, both projects are under construction with a combined project cost of $20M.

Water Intake & Filtration Plant for Carolina

Our office has designed this 2MGD project for the Municipality of Carolina. There, we designed and supervised the construction of the second horizontal collector intake installation in Puerto Rico. The intake has been tested producing raw water turbidities of 0.5 NTU in the highly turbid Rio Grande de Loiza.
